This painting originated in the Carol Marine workshop in May. For a long time I couldn't figure out why I liked it "with reservations". Then it hit me. What is now a neutral grey used to be a brighter blue. I needed more grey to make the colors of the eggplant, plate and pepper "pop". I like it much better now.
