Objects of My Obsession

                               6x6 $90
I told my husband that I thought this one represented a breakthrough, but he couldn't see it. "It looks like just another daily painting to me" he said. What I like about it is that it came together spontaneously and freely; the brush strokes are "one-timers" and I think it works both compositionally and color-wise. I love the little vase at the right and I have rarely painted it. It may start showing up more often.

  1. Very nice! Breakthroughs are fun, even when our husbands don't get them! I love the arrangement here too, and how the spoon is hanging off the edge in the front. Great job!

  2. Vos couleurs m'enchantent tout comme votre touche de peinture. Vous rendez vivante une nature morte... Bisous

  6. Wonderful job- my favorite moment is the color change in the orange as it sinks down in the blue green bowl. This looks like it was fun and you were confident!

  7. A gorgeous painting! I love your term "one timers". I need more of those myself! I always love your work, but this one does seem special.

  8. I really love the colors you are using in this one, and the brushstrokes are just juicy! What are you using for you green on your palette? Love the turquoise colors it is making.

  9. Shelby- I can't say for certain what the green is, as I am using up old paints and thus don't have a consistent palette. It's probably some combination of prussian blue and cad lemon, although I also have some cobalt blue on my palette, and there may be s bit of that in there as well. Sorry I'm unable to be more specific.
