Foot Bath

"Foot Bath" 8x6 oil on Gessoboard

I'm back from Arizona, and happy to be painting again. This is my entry for this week's DPW Challenge. I have been eager to see whether all my work with ceramic glazes in the past 4 months will affect my painting. I really think it will! I'm trying to get depth of color and avoid muddy neutrals. I'm also (always!) trying to paint loosely and with expression.

  1. Very nice! I like the loose brush strokes, especially her robe. Her legs are beautifully painted, too.

  2. This reminds me of a French impressionistic painting. Love the subtle colors. Really beautiful!

  3. Great to see your powerful brushmarks and imagery back again. YEAH!
I will watch the DPW Challenge to see your weekly participation. Good idea to have the discipline and enjoyment of that just once a week.

I must say I loved your ceramics and understand your feelings as my mother really enjoyed the glazing part too.
