Daily small paintings- and an occasional larger one-in a quest to refine my craft and above all, enjoy the process

"House in the Woods"
Here's a departure for you. I decided to try some landscape and figurative subjects to see how my daily painting has affected my approach. I can tell you that I love the square brushes; they're so painterly. I still struggle with composition, but I tell myself to just follow the rules- variety of shape, values and color (while still keeping "unity" in mind). The big question is "Is it Interesting????" I think this little landscape works pretty well. Comments???

Your paintings are beautiful. On this landscape the orange triangle in the bottom left is not working though. It's ambiguious as to where it sits. Composition is good.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I actually appreciate constructive criticism at least as much as compliments. I see what you mean about the "triangle" It is a rather uninteresting shape and perhaps doesn't read as "ground". I'll probably revise it.
