Watching Bocce

24x24; contact me at laynecook@comcast.net if interested in purchasing

Here's the latest in my new Spain/Portugal series. These old guys were so fun to see with their various postures. We came upon them as we explored the streets of Astorga, Spain in the late afternoon.

  4. Une très jolie peinture, remplie de lumière de sérénité, de bonheur latent qu'on retrouve dans de nombreux lieux du midi de la France...
Très joli travail... Votre talent s'étale sous nos yeux.
    Gros bisous.

  6. I like to read other's comments. They often point out something that I may have missed. Karen's comment caused me to go back and look at the treatment of the ground. I really like it, especially how the strokes sort of merge into your shadows.

My favorite part of this painting is the seated man with his thumbs in his belt! You perfectly captured his body language, his relaxed interest in the game. The sunlight on the two seated figures is really great, especially on his shirt. I just love it!

  8. Yes, I agree: Lovely values and nice saturated and popping colors in the front, very well done!

  9. Yes, certainly, that is the typical posture of retired men, I supose they are resting at a bench, discussing or watching to young women. I hope you have tested the famous Astorga's shortbread " Mantecadas de Astorga", muy buenas, very good. As good as your painting.
