"Over the Line"

                                           6x6 $90
This is pretty simple and direct. It's easy for me to see the pattern and value and color in a composition like this; much harder to see when the subject becomes more complicated.

  2. I had a post a few weeks ago saying I was open to critiques but also didn't get any . . . came to the same conclusion as you did. If I have a constructive thing to say, I'm silent because I fear I'm not expert enough to offer it. But it's a good exercise even for the critiquer to look more judiciously and try to determine if something isn't quite working. Like you, I often don't see right away what could have been done better. It seems all of us on this journey are getting better at portraying objects but don't always see how we could have made a better painting. This one is a beauty, by the way!

  3. I agree with Lorraine. She is good at clarifying thoughts. Anyway, I like your colors and you did a great job with the values. I did a painting earlier in the week to study values, but I wimped out and used only one color. Very nice!

  5. Strong, structural analysis with harmonious triad palette. Possibly the left plane of left orange might show a little more shadowing to be more in synch with the left cast shadow.
