If I have a constructive thing to say, I'm silent because I fear I'm not expert enough to offer it. But it's a good exercise even for the critiquer to look more judiciously and try to determine if something isn't quite working. Like you, I often don't see right away what could have been done better. It seems all of us on this journey are getting better at portraying objects but don't always see how we could have made a better painting.
