"Lonesome Clove" (revisited)

                                          6"x6" $90

We've been away for a couple days and I don't have a new painting to post- but I do have this revision of an earlier painting. In the earlier version I decided the dots were too prominent and competed with the garlic. I like this better. If you want to see the original, it's in the archives in the right margin of my blog.

  1. Layne, This is a beautiful painting. The use of color is excellent. You take the common color palette of red, white and blue and make them look interesting--quite an accomplishment. I looked up your original and think this revised painting is of much improvement! It really works.

  2. Layne,

Your playing down the dots in the surrounding areas really heightens the color in the garlic . Your self critical sense awakens to action even in earlier works which we thought were "under the belt". I like that, always trying to improve.
