Fresh Squeeze

                                            6x6 $90

I I really like painting glass, and the shape of this mug is fun to paint too. I still am having problems with color accuracy in my photographs. The oranges should be brighter and yellower, the brown is too purple and the lavender is too blue compared to the actual painting. When I correct for one it screws up the others. BUT at lease I got some clarity and sharpness. I'll settle for that for now.

  1. I think you've achieved a great color balance and don't see any of the criticisms you mentioned . . . love the crispness and colors of the glass,
the cast shadows on the oranges and your free brush strokes. Congrats on joining Daily Painter Originals!

  2. Beautiful color! Dynamic value range. Your finishing light-dark accents really add pizazz. Love the economy of your strokes.
Seems like you're learning a lot about getting your work to look online the way you see it in your studio (and vice versa). That's a reciprocal learning tree, keep at it.

  5. Love the color in this Layne even if it isn't accurate to the painting. But when you figure out how to color correct, please clue the rest of us in!!

  6. Love this - esp. the composition. The colors are gorgeous. I too have been having trouble with color accuracy - and thought it was because of the position of the sun at this time of year. Yesterday, I photographed my latest painting in indirect light (like Carol Marine taught us), and the color was close, but the values off. So I adjusted the brightness in photoshop, and now the color is very close.
